![]() As we continue our week long celebration in recognition of National Princess Week, I can't help but be reminded of the countless Disney Princesses that we have come to love or hate. From Cinderella who was misunderstood and mistreated by her family; to Mulan, the bold and brave warrior Princess; to Princess Tiana who was committed to working as hard as possible to make her dreams come true, we can all find a quality or two from the long list of fairy tale Princesses that likely remind us of ourselves. However, today, I want you to put your perceptions and thought of all the wonderful fairy tale Princesses aside, and let's talk for a minute about real royalty. Take a look in the mirror and as you look at the reflection staring back at you, say hello to an image of true royalty. Yes, that's right. You are the daughter of God, The King of kings, which makes you royalty. The same God who hung the stars, the moon and the sky, is the same God that calls you His child.

![]() Having worked with thousands of parents over the past two decades and listening to their frustrations as it pertains to their daughters, I am reminded of a story my Mother often tells of a day when as she says, “her dear sweet pre-teen daughter went off to school and when the bus arrived in the afternoon off stepped an alien who lived in her house for 4-5 years”. Although my memories of my adolescent years, fade in and out from time to time, I must admit there was a time in my past when by all appearances it seemed I had lost my mind. An impressionable, hormonal, pre-teen girl concerned about the many things that often pre-occupy the hearts and mind of girls. Unsure about the future and how I fit in, I like many other young girls was insecure in more ways than even I could imagine. |
