No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love Him – 1 Corinthians 2:9 (NLT)
As I began to prepare mentally for this New Year, I did something I haven’t done in a very long time. I refrained from much of the regular busyness the Christmas season brings, and instead I found myself sitting still and being quiet. While it was a foreign feeling, it was both refreshing and revealing. As God began to speak to my heart I realized that the noise and activity of everyday living had begun to consume my life and had caused me to fall into a place of regular routines and regular results. I had become comfortable and complacent.
While I felt extremely blessed to be living my purpose, to have a wonderful family, friends and to be in good health, something was still missing. Yes, my life was good, and I had nothing at all to complain about, but I was reminded during my quiet time with Him, that there is MORE. There is MORE He requires of me. There is MORE He desires to do in and through me. There are MORE people He wants to reach. There is MORE He desires to teach me, pour into me and pull out of me.
I realized in that moment that I had placed limitations on myself, my abilities and my potential; but more importantly I had placed limits on God. As He continued to whisper to my heart and open my eyes, I gently heard the words"This is the Year of the Unseen”.
I was reminded of 1 Corinthians 2:9 – “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love Him.” Simply put, if we took all our stuff (all our plans, all our ideas, all our strength, all our wisdom, all our desires…) and placed them at the feet of God, it wouldn’t begin to compare to His plans and purpose for our lives. He desires to do MORE. God is just looking for those who will remove the limits, allow Him to take control and be willing to do what He says and go where He says go.
So as I look forward to the year ahead, I am committed to draw closer to God and to rest and trust in Him. To seek Him for daily instructions. But, most importantly, to take the limits off myself and off God. I believe and receive that 2015 is the Year of the Unseen, and this year as His children, we have an opportunity to experience Him at a greater level than ever before and to witness miracles, breakthroughs and blessings that we have never seen nor could ever imagine.
Wishing you a year of God’s blessings!
